Here’s what you should know about the types of lubes

Water-based lubricant

Water-based lubricant is widely available and relatively affordable. As the name implies, these are made with water. Water-based lube is safe to use with latex condoms and is easy to clean up since it won’t stain most fabrics. Water-based lubes are thin and slippery, making them really easy to rinse off when the fun ends. This also means they’re prone to drying out quickly and you may need to apply more, which some people don’t like. Often recommended both for anal sex and people with vaginal dryness.

Silicone-based lubricant

Silicone-based lubricant have a much thicker consistency, are more slippery, and last longer than a water-based lubricant. And you don’t need to worry about silicone-based lubes weakening latex, nitrile, and polyurethane condoms. Since silicone lubricants don’t dry out as quickly as water based-lubes, they are also a good option for anal sex, where there is no natural lubrication working in your favor.

Lubricant for sensitive skin

Designed specifically for sensitive skin, perhaps by avoiding ingredients that can cause irritation. Such ingredients could include glycerin, petroleum jelly, nonoxynol-9 and propylene glycol. Lubes that contain perfumes, flavours or ingredients to create cooling or warming sensations  may also be more likely to cause irritation. So read the label carefully if you have sensitive skin

Anal lubricant

Anal lubricants typically characterized by a thicker consistency, as well as a long-lasting formula that will not go tacky or sticky quickly. When it comes to back door play, many are concerned about the thought of encountering difficulty or discomfort. So, a good, thick, lubricant is important. We recommend that first timers use an anal lube with a slight numbing effect.

Specialty lubricant
